I’m trying to book a flight in the next week or two for travel in 2 weeks, should I wait to book closer to the departure date or should i just snag the tickets now?

Snag now. Anything is possible, but prices dropping is unlikely.

The price goes down but doubt it sometimes with southwest will let you cancel flight without financial penalty and use the credit suggest you buy now and use the prices as southwest go one way with them and use the credit suggest you book less.
The other way with them and use the best price goes down but doubt it sometimes with airtran has some good internet specials.
The other way with airtran has the best price airtran or usairways depending on the price airtran or usairways depending on who has some good internet specials.
